Find a quiet place where you can be undisturbed. This is sacred time, a moment to release, to lighten, to unburden your soul.
Sit comfortably, either cross-legged on the floor or in a chair with your feet resting firmly on the ground. Allow your hands to rest gently in your lap or on your knees, palms facing upward in a gesture of openness.
Close your eyes.
Take a deep breath in through your nose, filling your lungs completely.
Exhale slowly through the mouth, releasing the weight of the day.
Again, inhale deeply, drawing in presence, peace, and ease.
Exhale, letting go of tension, stress, and anything that no longer serves you.
Let your shoulders drop. Let your jaw unclench. Let your entire body soften.
With each breath, feel yourself arriving more fully into this moment.
Nothing before this moment matters.
Nothing beyond this moment exists.
This is your time.
The Weight You Carry
Life places many things upon our shoulders.
Expectations, responsibilities, worries, the emotions of others, the past, the future.
Some of these are yours to hold. Some of them are not.
Yet you carry them all, without question, without pause.
But today, you pause.
Today, you ask yourself, what is mine to carry?
Breathe deeply.
You are about to lighten your load.
Guided Visualization: Unpacking the Bag
Now, in your mind’s eye, imagine yourself standing in a vast, open space.
The sky stretches endlessly above you. The ground beneath you is solid and steady.
At your feet is a heavy bag.
This bag is filled with everything you have been carrying. Your worries, your regrets, your fears, and the burdens placed upon you by others.
Feel its weight.
Feel how it has slowed you down.
Now, with deep intention, reach down and lift the bag onto your shoulders.
Notice the strain, the heaviness, the exhaustion.
Now ask yourself, what am I carrying that does not belong to me?
Releasing the Burdens
Slowly, open the bag.
Inside, you see many objects, each representing a burden.
One by one, you will take them out, examine them, and decide whether they are yours to carry.
The first object appears.
Perhaps it is a past mistake, a regret that lingers in your heart.
Hold it in your hands. Feel its weight.
Ask yourself, is this still serving me, or is it time to let it go?
Take a deep breath in, and as you exhale, place it on the ground.
Watch as it dissolves, fading into the earth, no longer yours to hold.
Breathe. Feel the lightness growing within you.
Now, reach into the bag again.
The second object appears.
Perhaps it is the expectations of others, the pressure to be someone you are not.
Feel its heaviness in your hands.
Ask yourself, does this truly belong to me?
If the answer is no, exhale deeply and release it.
Watch it vanish, no longer a weight upon your soul.
Continue this process, one by one.
Maybe you remove a fear that was never yours to begin with.
Maybe you remove guilt that has overstayed its welcome.
Maybe you remove an old wound that no longer needs to define you.
Each time you release, you feel lighter.
Each time you let go, you reclaim your energy.
Until finally, you reach into the bag and find nothing.
It is empty.
Your shoulders are light. Your breath is deep and free.
You are free.
Breathe in this lightness. Breathe in this liberation.
This is who you are when you are no longer carrying what is not yours.
Carrying Only What Is Yours
Now, look down at the bag.
It is no longer heavy. No longer a burden.
But there is still something left inside.
You reach in and pull out a single object. Something small, something meaningful.
This is what is truly yours to carry.
Perhaps it is your strength.
Perhaps it is your dreams.
Perhaps it is the love you hold for yourself and others.
Whatever it is, place it gently in your heart.
This, and only this, is what you take with you.
Breathe it in. Let it settle within you.
You are no longer carrying what does not belong to you.
You are free to walk forward, lighter, clearer, at peace.
Returning to the Present
Slowly, begin to bring awareness back to your body.
Wiggle your fingers. Wiggle your toes.
Take a deep inhale and sigh it out, releasing any last tension.
When you are ready, gently open your eyes.
Pause.
Notice how you feel.
Lighter, clearer, more at ease.
Carry this feeling with you today.
If you feel weighed down again, ask yourself, is this mine to carry?
If the answer is no, let it go.
Final Reflection
Before you leave this space, ask yourself, what is one thing I am ready to release for good?
Reflect. Journal if you feel called to.
And remember.
You are not meant to carry everything.
You are only meant to carry what is truly yours.
Until we meet again.
